SUMMARY:Decolonizing Our Grant Writing Practices
DESCRIPTION:  \n*This program has been cancelled. \n  \nThis is a two-part workshop: Tuesday May 26\, 9am-12pm and  Tuesday\, June 16\, 9am-12pm \nGrant writing\, while largely viewed as a solitary or isolated activity is integral to organizational development and serves as a bridge to funders and other external stakeholders. The ways that grant writers are positioned to perpetuate systems of oppression within philanthropy are not often taken into consideration\, even as grant writers often are faced with using their skill set to convey the strengths\, challenges\, hopes\, and plans of organizations and communities. Grant writers of varying levels of experience are invited to this 2-day workshop to examine the ways that grant writing perpetuates systems of oppression and to incorporate tools and strategies that will lead to decolonizing grant writing while seeking funding. The various aspects of a proposal\, strategic planning\, program planning\, organizational leadership and our relationship with funders will be discussed by examining the dynamics of power\, relationships\, expectations and values. \nInstructor: Deidra Somerville \nProgram fee: $70 Members of Forefront / $320 Non-member (Members must log into the Forefront website to obtain their discount. Create a new account here.) \n  \nReminder! Forefront is moving!\nThis program will be held in the Forefront conference room at our new office in the FBRK Impact House:\n200 West Madison\, 2nd floor\nChicago\, IL 60606 \n*Please note! Registration is required for this program and a government-issued I.D. is necessary to gain access to the building.  Please allow extra time to clear the security desk.* \nClick here for our cancellation policy.
