Board Basics provides an overview of the board’s role in a nonprofit organization and the board member’s responsibility on that board.  The course explains the history of the sector and nonprofit corporate structure.  Federal laws pertaining to nonprofit boards are outlined.  Basic roles and responsibilities are discussed with an emphasis on best practices for new organizations, small nonprofits and established medium sized entities.  The roles and responsibilities between the board and chief executive of the organization is introduced.
