SUMMARY:Building Your Board’s Capacity to Fundraise
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis program has been cancelled. \n  \nAcross all sectors\, board members must take on a greater role in fundraising for their organization to position them for growth and sustainability.  Yet most board members step into their roles without having the big picture and core skills to become a highly effective fundraiser.   Inevitably\, many board members approach this important role with reluctance and a transactional mindset.  Through this workshop\, we will show participants how to shift their board’s perspective on fundraising so that they have greater enthusiasm and commitment to building deeper relationships and driving greater results. \nWe will review the board’s roles and responsibilities in fundraising and help board members feel more at ease with fundraising.  We will explore why fundraising is a team sport and Identify the various ways the board supports a high performing fundraising team.   As we breakdown the elements of successful fundraising\, participants will learn how to tell their story\, respond to objections\, and practice the ask.  Most importantly\, they will learn how the board can be impactful in fundraising even without making an ask.  We will provide quick assessments so that participants can determine what’s working well and what needs improvement in their fundraising process.  Participants will walk away with an action plan to help them focus on how to strengthen the board’s impact on and commitment to fundraising. \nProgram fee: $35 Members of Forefront / $160 Non-members \nForefront is offering additional board-related programs in 2020 focused on recruitment\, diversity and inclusion\, structure and process\, and performance and culture. \n  \nReminder! Forefront is moving!\nThis program will be held in the Forefront conference room at our new office in the FBRK Impact House:\n200 West Madison\, 2nd floor\nChicago\, IL 60606 \n*Please note! Registration is required for this program and a government-issued I.D. is necessary to gain access to the building.  Please allow extra time to clear the security desk.* \n  \nClick here for our cancellation policy.

SUMMARY:Engaging Boards in Setting an Organization’s Strategic Direction (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:In a perfect world\, nonprofits must regularly determine how best to sustain or expand their impact. In the real world\, their missions and impact are often bombarded by external and internal factors such as shifts in funder priorities\, state budget crises\, staff turnover\, and perceived competition with other organizations. Programmatic joint ventures\, back office collaborations\, co-locations\, mergers\, and other long-term or permanent strategic partnership are a sample of strategic alternatives that can lead to organizational growth and enhanced capacity. \nThis Mission Sustainability Initiative (MSI) webinar will clarify what the landscape of potential strategic alternatives available to nonprofits might include and\, importantly\, how to engage the organization’s Board of Directors in exploring these options. Brook Cunningham\, Managing Director at Lazard\, will introduce a framework for nonprofit Board members to contemplate the range of possibilities for their respective organizations\, and Beth E. Berg\, Partner at Sidley Austin LLP\, will address certain legal considerations. For Executive Directors and CEOs\, this webinar will provide advice on how to start a proactive conversation with your Board about these topics. Board members and Executive Directors are encouraged to watch the webinar together. \nProgram fee: Free \nClick here for our cancellation policy. \nNeed help? Email us: registration@myforefront.org
