SUMMARY:Racial Equity & Social Justice Beyond the Walls of Your Institution
DESCRIPTION:Join Forefront and the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits for Ask A Consultant: a monthly interactive\, solutions-oriented\, virtual office hour with experienced consultants focusing on participants’ burning questions. \nBuilding on our August conversation topic of building racial equity within an organization\, this session will focus on grounding our public facing work in racial equity and social justice. Join us to Ask a Consultant your questions about taking meaningful action to end systemic injustice. We’ll go beyond statements and reports (although those are important\, too) to look at centering BIPOC\, advocacy\, organizing\, and other practices that work to fix inequity. \n  \nPanelists \nKim Brown\, the founder of Centrally Human\, a nonprofit organization committed to driving change through education of inclusive innovation — connecting DEI with action plans through individualized frameworks. Kim is a corporate executive and entrepreneur\, trained journalist and passionate volunteer across Chicagoland. \nNakia J. Green\, the principal consultant for Nakia J Consulting\, a firm with specialized capabilities in leadership and organizational development and diversity equity and inclusion. As a Social Impact Entrepreneur\, she is also the founder of Culture Solutions and Culture Solutions in Action\, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations designed to decrease unemployment and underemployment amongst college graduates that identify as people of color and people with disabilities. \nDr. Willie R. Cobb\, Jr. has been motivating\, inspiring\, and healing individuals and communities since the 1980’s as a teenager on the south side of Chicago. From bringing together youth groups from across the south side to speaking before thousands at conferences across the country\, Willie has worked to break down walls and build bridges between different races\, ages\, genders\, and ethnic groups. \n\n  \nPanel Moderator \nTerri A. Johnson is a native Chicagoan\, shaped in part by the city’s segregation and dividing lines.  Living within those lines and seeing the impact of those divisions helped spark her lifelong commitment to justice and equity.  She has worked for solutions to the “wicked problem” of racism for over two decades.  She is a consultant with VEGA Partners\, a social impact consultancy\, and the founder of C-Change\, a consulting practice that works with organizations and individuals to create space for thoughtful\, creative and sustained organizational change. \n\n
