SUMMARY:Transforming the Funding Landscape for the Immigrant Justice Movement
DESCRIPTION:Please join Forefront and Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR)  for the following grantmaker program: \nRacial capitalism is one of the major factors that inflicts harm upon – and withholds power and resources from – people and communities who seek to stay\, move freely\, work\, transform\, and thrive. GCIR is focused on moving money and power to immigrant\, refugee\, and asylum seeker communities and movement groups. Understanding the proportion of philanthropic dollars that go to the immigrant justice movement is crucial to this advocacy. The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) has documented the state of philanthropic funding for immigrant and refugee communities\, and offers crucial recommendations for grantmakers who hope to liberate philanthropic assets in support of these communities. \nJoin GCIR and NCRP to delve into these findings and recommendations\, including the latest data on the state of funding for immigrant and refugee communities\, the extent to which local funders invest in these communities compared to national donors\, and how much grantmakers are giving in support of immigrant groups with intersectional identities (e.g. Black migrants\, LGBTQ migrants). \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Narrative Change and Power-Building
DESCRIPTION:Please join Forefront and Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) for the following grantmaker program: \nPhilanthropy has often conflated narrative change work with strategic communications\, one-directional communications campaigns\, or story projects that may have short-term effects but fail to transform cultural norms. Instead\, narrative change means shifting our world view. As Pop Culture Collaborative’s Bridgit Antoinette Evans shares\, narratives are all around us\, “influencing everything about how we live\, see\, and think about ourselves in the world.” Narrative change involves the creation of a new story and communicating that story to audiences in ways that resonate with them\, putting the new narrative into practice\, and evaluating the efforts of that narrative shift and adapting it accordingly. The goal is to transform “the ecosystems of narratives\, ideas\, and cultural norms that shape the behaviors\, mindsets\, and worldviews of millions of people” – to transform “whole narrative oceans.” \nJoin GCIR and narrative change experts for this session to explore strategies philanthropy can employ to more effectively support the efforts of the immigrant justice movement to build a consensus for a vision of a world that works for all of us. We will address the different components of narrative change\, including narrative networks and narrative organizing. Join us to learn how funders can help advance efforts to establish and deploy the narrative that everyone has the right to dignity\, safety\, and freedom to thrive\, regardless of where they were born. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:TechChicago Equity Index Overview and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The Equity Index effort has been led by P33 in collaboration with 10+ partner organizations.\n\n\nAt this meeting you’ll hear about the upcoming launch of the TechChicago Equity Index and a growing collaboration around making Chicago the country’s most inclusive tech city\, with a tech workforce that reflects the region’s racial and ethnic demographics. The Equity Index effort has been led by P33 in collaboration with 10+ partner organizations. The purpose of the initiative is to establish a shared source of truth about leakages in the tech talent pipeline and what policies\, behaviors\, and investments are needed – from grammar school to the C-suite – to fill gaps\, build capacity\, and improve outcomes. This session will include a preview of the data and findings\, as well as a discussion about how they intend to build a movement around the data\, and how others can get involved in helping make Chicago the most inclusive tech city in the country. \nAfter the session\, we invite you to stay and connect with your colleagues during the networking happy hour! \nPlease note\, this event is capped and therefore we ask that you please update your registration if you are no longer able to attend.
