SUMMARY:The Justice Journey Experience for Foundation Leaders
DESCRIPTION:The Justice Journey Alliance\, Leadership Foundation of Chicago and Forefront’s Family Foundations Network invites foundation leaders on a journey that is truly life changing. While we may agree that America suffers from systemic racism\, we may not fully appreciate its deep roots in our society and its damaging effects on our communities. To serve visionary foundation leaders who want to move toward racial equality in the world\, we have developed a four-day The Bridge to Equal Rights immersion experience\, where we will visit key Civil Rights sites in the South\, hear from social justice experts\, and imagine a society where equality is a reality. The goal is to empower justice advocates to develop and take action steps that can lead to lasting change in the world. \nThe tour\, which traces key landmarks of the civil rights movement\, will take place from April 30 to May 3. It will begin in Atlanta\, Georgia\, with stops in Selma\, Birmingham\, and Montgomery\, Alabama. Upon completing your registration\, you will receive a link to book your reservation with Justice Journey Alliance. \nThis event is open to Funders only.

SUMMARY:Making Invisible Funding Visible: The Role of Federal Funding in Illinois' Early Childhood System (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Illinois is currently restructuring its early childhood education system through the creation of a new state agency dedicated to early learning. As part of this transition\, Robert R. McCormick Foundation and W. Clement & Jessie V. Stone Foundations have hosted a series of webinars to build broader understanding and engagement across sectors. \nWith recent threats to federal funding that supports early childhood\, including Head Start funding\, the next webinar will focus on the critical role federal dollars play in supporting early childhood programs in Illinois—particularly in the context of system reform. \nAs Illinois aims to create a system that is simpler\, fairer\, and better\, federal funds remain an essential—yet often invisible—foundation. This conversation will unpack the real consequences of losing that support and make the case for protecting it. \nSpeakers \nAmy Blythe\, Assistant Vice President of Early Learning Services\, Easterseals \nYvette Sanchez Fuentes\, Senior Vice President of National Policy\, Start Early \nTommy Sheridan\, Deputy Director\, National Head Start Association \nAmanda Wike\, Executive Director\, Dixon Chamber of Commerce & Main Street & Member\, ReadyNation Illinois \n  \nModerators \nSara Slaughter\, Executive Director\, W. Clement and Jessie V. Stone Foundation \nBrandon Thorne\, Senior Program Officer\, W. Clement and Jessie V. Stone Foundation \nBryan Stokes\, Director\, Education Portfolio\, Robert R McCormick Foundation \n  \nRegister here!
