SUMMARY:Assessing Nonprofit Financial Health 2021
DESCRIPTION:These programs are sold out and registration has closed.\n  \n*This event is for individuals currently working in a grantmaking institution such as a foundation or corporate giving program.* \nThis program takes place in two parts on Thursday\, February 25\, AND Thursday\, March 4\, 2021\, from 9:30 to 11:30 am both days. Attendance at both sessions is required\, and some work will be assigned between sessions. \nUnderstanding the financial health of both current and prospective grantees is a critical part of the grantmaking process. Nonprofit organizations face increasing financial challenges in today’s operating environment and in order to make sound funding decisions\, grantmakers must have a firm grasp of the story told by the numbers. Focusing on effective approaches to reading and interpreting audited financial statements and the IRS Form 990\, this course will equip grantmakers to understand their grantees’ financial reality\, with concepts and tools applicable to grantees across a range of mission areas and business models. \nKey concepts covered in the workshop will include:\n• Understanding audited financial statements\n• Discussion of key indicators of financial health\n• Calculating financial metrics using an Excel-based “Nonprofit Financial Health Analysis” tool (provided as a takeaway for all participants)\n• The differences between the Form 990 and audited financial statements\n• Understanding the true cost of grantees’ programs. \nPlease note: if you have registered for the 2021 Grantmakers Institute\, you are already registered for these workshops and do not need to register separately. Please contact registration@myforefront.org with any questions.
