SUMMARY:Including People w/ Disabilities in Nonprofit Diversity Work (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Disability is a social construct defining what is “normal” and what is not. For organizations already building an understanding of race\, gender\, and other social constructs and their consequences\, this webinar offers a framework to help leaders consider disability in equity planning and identify ways their nonprofit can better include people with disabilities on its staff and board\, and among its target population. The presenters\, who are nonprofit professionals and people with disabilities\, will share their personal and professional experiences\, as well as resources and actions that help nonprofits create a culture that presumes competency of people with disabilities for authentic inclusion and accessibility.\nThis webinar is part of Walking the Talk: Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion in North Carolina Nonprofits\, the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits’ initiative to address racial and generational leadership gaps in the nonprofit sector and the policies\, practices\, and culture that exacerbate them.

SUMMARY:Getting to Zero-IL Funders Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for breakfast! \nThe Health Affinity Group of Forefront has identified “Getting to Zero New HIV Cases in Illinois by 2030” as one of its top initiatives to engage in.  We invite all funders to join us in this exciting statewide initiative to learn how it may intersect with your portfolios of health\, community\, diversity\, equity\, workforce\, and advocacy. \nIllinois is at a key moment in the four-decade-long history of the HIV epidemic. Medical break throughs allow people living with HIV to lead long\, healthy lives and people vulnerable to HIV are able to protect themselves. Despite these advancements\, Illinois continues to see increasing HIV rates among populations who endure multiple barriers; including racism\, housing insecurity\, transphobia\, and under- or unemployment. Today\, we have the opportunity to end these disparities. Getting to Zero Illinois is an ambitious plan to end the HIV epidemic in Illinois by 2030. Join us for this important discussion to learn more about the GTZ-IL plan!  \nSpeakers: \n\nDave Kern\, Deputy Commissioner\, HIV/STI Bureau\, Chicago Department of Public Health\nJudy Perloff\, Chief Program Officer\, Chicago House and Social Service\nMaya Green\, MD\, Regional Medical Director and Primary Care Provider\, Howard Brown Health\nErik Glenn\, Executive Director\, Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus\nIntroduction by John Peller\, AIDS Foundation of Chicago\n\n  \nCo-Hosts: \nLuis Roman\, JB & MK Pritzker Family Foundation\, lroman@pritzkerfoundation.org \nMary Pounder\, Comer Family Foundation\, mpounder@comerfamilyfoundation.org \n  \nThis event is for Grantmaker Members of Forefront.

SUMMARY:College-Going and Completion in the Chicago Area: A Regional Analysis
DESCRIPTION:College-Going and Completion in the Chicago Area: A Regional Analysis examines enrollment\, attainment\, and completion in the seven-county metropolitan Chicago area. The Partnership for College Completion’s report examines how two decades of state disinvestment in students and institutions has affected the seven-county region’s 54 public and private nonprofit two- and four-year colleges and the 319\,000 undergraduate students they enroll. College-Going and Completion in the Chicago Area use a number of sources to analyze higher education in the region\, including a unique regional analysis of data from financial aid applicants.
