SUMMARY:Corporate Social Responsibility: It’s More than Grants
DESCRIPTION:Sorry\, registration is now closed. We have reached full capacity for the conference space.\n  \nPast speakers at the Philanthropy Club have often stressed that philanthropy encompasses more than money\, and corporate relationships involve more than grants. Come to the December Philanthropy Club program to learn more about the nationwide corporate responsibility movement that includes concepts such as “business with purpose\,” “sustainable business goals\,” “social responsibility\,” and “cross-sector partnerships.” \nAmong the top-notch business schools training students to understand these concepts is Loyola University’s Baumhart Center. \nOur presenters\, Seth Green and Gwendolyn Y. McNutt will enrich our understanding of the many ways that nonprofit organizations can more successfully interact with corporations committed to social responsibility. \n  \nPresenters: \nSeth Green is the founding director of the Baumhart Center at Loyola University and faculty member in Loyola’s Quinlan School of Business. Seth is a widely sought-after speaker and media contributor on corporate social responsibility and cross-sector partnerships. His professional experiences include consulting at McKinsey and Company and serving as executive director of Youth & Opportunity United.  \n\n  \nGwendolyn Y. McNutt is a Regional External Affairs Manager with Comcast\, with more than 25 years of experience. In her current role\, she is responsible for managing community impact initiatives\, working with nonprofit organizations and administering event sponsorship opportunities. Some of her key initiatives include the Comcast Internet Essential Program\, the annual volunteer day of service\, Comcast Cares Day and the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. \nGwendolyn is a lifelong resident of Illinois and has engaged with various community organizations throughout the area. She currently serves on the board of directors of Chicago Women in Philanthropy (CWIP)\, and is a recent past member of the International Live Events Association (ILEA) Board of Governors. SUMMARY:Affordability Briefing with the Partnership for College Completion
DESCRIPTION:Affordability has been a high-priority area for the Partnership for College Completion\, as it affects students’ ability to enroll\, persist\, and complete college. This fall\, the Partnership published the three-part series Priced Out: On Illinois’ Disinvestment in Higher Education and What Can Be Done About It\, which examines the impact of nearly two decades of state disinvestment in Illinois higher education and provides an in-depth analysis of how disparities in access\, cost\, and ability to pay are creating barriers for rural students and students of color. The reports conclude with recommended policy reforms that can start reversing these trends.
