DESCRIPTION:In March 2021\, President Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA)\, an ambitious initiative to stimulate the US economy\, support residents\, and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Cook County will receive over $1 billion from the federal government through ARPA and is in the process of developing a responsible\, comprehensive\, and equitable spending plan to strategically use these one-time resources to support both immediate recovery needs and long-term transformative initiatives. To ensure the best possible outcome for all\, Cook County is seeking community input to guide its ARPA spending plan. \nThe County is partnering with Forefront to offer three listening sessions to hear directly nonprofit organizations and foundations that are based in or serve Cook County. Sandra Lewis\, Director of External Affairs\, Office of the President of the Cook County Board will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. \nIf your organization is located in West or South Suburban Cook County and you would like to host your own virtual or in-person listening session with your clients or community residents\, please reach out to project consultant Consuella Brown at brownconsuella@yahoo.com to a schedule a time to hold an event. \nAdditional listening sessions will be held on September 28\, 2021 at 10am\, and October 12\, 2021 at Noon.

DESCRIPTION:Forefront Illinois Funders’ Briefings feature opportunities to hear from and share local\, regional\, and national updates on responses to COVID-19 and its impact on Illinois communities.  Speakers and topics are updated on a rolling basis. \nFunding Rural Equity \nOn October 7\, we’ll be joined by Jawanza Malone\, Executive Director of the Wieboldt Foundation\, and Lindsay Ryder\, Director of the Integrated Rural Strategies Group at Neighborhood Funders Group. They will share examples of foundations advancing racial justice and making an impact in rural communities through support for community organizing\, values-aligned grantmaking\, and funder collaboration. Lindsay will also preview a soon-to-be-released Toolkit for funders to support them in moving forward with funding rural equity. As part of our commitment to serving Illinois’ social impact sector\, Forefront staff members have undergone training to become Standards of Excellence Licensed Consultants who can bring best-in-practice approaches and resources to our community. \nJoin the Forefront team and your nonprofit colleagues in a workshop focused on Standards of Excellence in mission and strategic planning. This session will include a practical framework for capacity assessment\, an outline for self-led planning\, and also tools to help focus and prioritize program and organizational goals. This program is designed to be highly interactive with opportunities to workshop ideas and collaborate with peers built into our time together. \n Primary Learning Goals:  \n\nDevelop clear connection between your mission and ongoing strategic planning\nUnderstand the Guiding Principles and best practices around mission and strategy\nBecome familiar with Standards of Excellence broadly\n\nForefront is launching a new Pay-What-You-Can ticket model for our programs. The goal is to be as accessible as possible to our community as the recovery from the pandemic is ongoing. We continue to offer ticket levels for our Forefront Members\, as well as the public.
