SUMMARY:Impact of Affirmative Action Decisions on Foundations and NPOs in IL (Web.)
DESCRIPTION:Webinar\n\n\nThe US Supreme Court struck down race-based affirmative action in higher education on Thursday\, June 29\, 2023. In addition to the direct implications for institutions of higher education\, these decisions may have a ripple effect on foundations’ and operating nonprofits’ policies and practices\, grantmaking guidelines\, and more. This event is intended to build upon the conversation recently hosted by the Partnership for College Completion about their report “Racial Diversity On Campus After Affirmative Action” by considering the potential secondary impacts to other not-for-profit institutions. In this webinar\, sector legal experts will review possible implications on foundations and operating nonprofits\, describe how organizations in Illinois are responding to the decision\, and engage in Q&A. \nSpeakers: \nJosh Mintz\, Vice President and General Counsel\, MacArthur Foundation \nEmily Cueno DeSmedt\, Partner\, Morgan Lewis \nAdditional speakers will be announced at a later date. The webinar will not be recorded to allow for open and honest conversation.
