SUMMARY:Promising Pathways: College and Industry Routes to Good Jobs
DESCRIPTION:Join CCAPS as we explore the question: What are the most promising and equitable routes to good work for Illinois youth? A report released last summer found that Illinois students from low-income backgrounds went on to earn less\, on average\, than students from higher-income backgrounds. In this session\, we will explore findings from a follow-up report that identified the best routes to upward mobility for low-income youth. \nResearchers from the Illinois Workforce & Education Research Collaborative (IWERC) and the UChicago Consortium on School Research will share the degree levels\, programs of study\, and industries that move low-income youth into good jobs at an equitable rate to those from high-income families. They will also identify pathways that appear promising for men and women of different racial/ethnic groups\, as well as pathways that are currently promising only for some. \nA panel will discuss the implications of the findings for guiding students into promising pathways\, as well as making sub-baccalaureate pathways more equitable and promising for all. \nRead the report:  Promising pathways: College and industry routes to good jobs for Illinois youth from low-income families \nAll attendees must be registered to attend. Please bring ID for security and allow additional time for check-in.
