Announcing the 2018 #ILVote Civic Engagement Grantees
Forefront is thrilled to announce the grantees of its #ILVote micro-grant, which supports voter engagement across Illinois ahead of the November midterm elections.
As part of Forefront’s Democracy Initiative, the #ILVote campaign empowers and trains nonprofits to build voter engagement into the fabric of their organizations. Nonprofit voter engagement can benefit nonprofits, our communities, and the nation — far beyond the outcome of any particular election. Forefront is pleased to support the following organizations:
Brighton Park Neighborhood Council
CHANGE Illinois
Chicago Leadership Alliance
Chinese Mutual Aid Association
Citizen Advocacy Center
Enlace Chicago
Erie Neighborhood House
Faith Coalition for the Common Good
Gads Hill Center
HANA Center
Housing Action Illinois
Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights
Illinois People’s Action
Logan Square Neighborhood Association
Mano A Mano Family Resource Center
ONE Northside
Quad Cities Interfaith
The Resurrection Project
South Asian American Policy & Research Institute
Grantees will be honored at a campaign launch event on Tuesday, July 24 at EvolveHer in River North. This #ILVote Kick-off event will be live-streamed on Forefront’s Facebook page. Tim Delaney, President & CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits, will set the stage for the nonprofit and philanthropic community of Illinois to leverage our network in service of a vibrant democracy. Delaney will offer a “state of the sector” when it comes to civic engagement work from a national perspective. Anita Banerji, Director, Democracy Initiative at Forefront, will share what nonprofits can do locally to ensure all voices are being heard, represented, and counted. The team from BallotReady will share their innovative online tool that makes it easy for voters to research and understand every candidate and referendum up for election. Nonprofit VOTE will also be on hand to share the nonpartisan resources they have available for nonprofits to help the people they serve participate and vote.
