Many nonprofit organizations were created to resolve problems that result from institutionalized discrimination. The panel will offer a critical examination of the systems that have created a gap in resources that disproportionately affects black, brown, LGBTQ+ people and women.
Panelists include:
Rev. Dr. Marilyn Pagán-Banks serves as the Executive Director for A Just Harvest, which utilizes three comprehensive strategies to combat hunger and poverty: direct service; advocacy, outreach and community organizing; and community and economic development.
Ishan Johnson serves as the Associate Director of Development for Chicago Opera Theater and oversees individual giving and special events. He also serves on the AFP Chicago Board of Directors, and is Chairperson of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Committee.
Jane Kimondo serves as the Executive Director for the Crossroads Fund, which supports community organizations working on issues of racial, social, and economic justice in the Chicago area.
