Bylaws Review Clinic (In-person)
Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the Law firm of DLA Piper are hosting a Bylaws Review Legal Clinic on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Clinic Overview:
- If your organization has been around for a while without updating the bylaws, or if your organization is new and you are not sure if your bylaws are appropriate for the organization, you may be ready for a review.
- Making sure your bylaws represent your organization and the way you operate is important to nonprofit compliance and mitigating risk.
- At this (in-person) legal clinic, we’ll help organizations document the process requirements for their board decision-making that comply with Illinois law and make sense to the founders and board.

- Wednesday, July 22, 2026
- This in person clinic is scheduled from (1 pm to 4 pm).
- Downtown location – to be disclosed upon registration confirmations
- Refreshments will be provided.
Registration requirements:
This is a free clinic, but to be eligible you (must):
1. Be incorporated as a nonprofit in Illinois,
2. Have at least 3 unrelated individuals on the organization’s board of directors,
3. Have 501(c)(3) status or are in the process of applying for c3 status,
4. Have an annual budget at or below $10 million
5. Have at least one person from the organization (board member or senior leader) able to attend a 3-hour clinic at a downtown Chicago location on July 22, 2026, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Deadlines:
• Participation is limited to 12 organizations.
• Registrations are due July 14, 2026.
