24-Hour Statewide #ILGive for #GivingTuesday Returns Tuesday, November 28
Running on Global “Giving Tuesday,” Forefront Encourages Residents to Give Locally
CHICAGO (November 8, 2017) – Forefront, Illinois’ statewide association for nonprofits and grantmakers, is hosting its fourth annual #ILGive for #GivingTuesday event on Tuesday, November 28 from 12:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. CST. The event is part of Forefront’s ongoing initiative to build capacity for nonprofits, grow the giving economy in Illinois, tear down the barriers to giving, and encourage ordinary people to advocate for their communities.
#ILGive (pronounced “I’ll give”) for #GivingTuesday falls on the Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving. It’s a response to the twin retail phenomena of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, answering the public’s appetite to balance holiday “getting” with community “giving,” while simultaneously kicking off the end-of-year fundraising season for nonprofits. Presented by Forefront, the event will unify the state in an effort to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Illinois nonprofits in a 24-hour period. Every Illinois nonprofit is invited to create a mobile-friendly donation page on the fundraising platform at ILGive.com where funds raised will go directly to participating organizations.
By bringing together hundreds of vetted Illinois nonprofits in one place, ILGive.com makes it easy for Illinoisans to select a cause that matters to them, learn about the work of individual nonprofits, and donate directly to them. The #ILGive website makes it easy for new and returning users alike to make a donation online in as few as three clicks. Forefront verifies that each and every participating organization is legally able to collect donations, so donors can feel confident that their contributions are going to reputable organizations.
"#ILGive for #GivingTuesday is a day dedicated to bringing nonprofits, businesses, foundations, and all Illinoisans together to celebrate generosity and to give. It’s a day to unite Illinois communities and raise visibility and awareness about nonprofits and the impact they have in our communities,” said Eric Weinheimer, President + CEO of Forefront. “Together, our efforts can help educate children, shelter the homeless, enrich the arts, and address a host of other critical issues to create healthier and more vibrant communities throughout Illinois. Together, we can make Illinois, our country, and our world a better place.”
All Illinoisans are invited to give to a cause that matters to them on Nov. 28, and help advance the movement by sharing news of their gift on social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and elsewhere – tagged with the phrase #ILGive for #GivingTuesday.
