DF Members in the News About 1) Strategies to Support Low-Income Women + 2) The Role of Philanthropic Advisers
The December 13, 2010 edition of The Chicago Tribune featured Donors Forum Member, Eleanor Foundation, noting results of educational initiatives that help lower-income working women. Strategies to help women secure jobs earning $40,000 or more annually include offering skill based training and financial literacy classes and matching employee savings. These have led to promotions on the job and increased self sufficiency. Among other organizations mentioned in the article were Donors Forum Partners Heartland Alliance, Jane Addams Resource Corporation, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois at Chicago.
On the same day but a different topic, several Associate Members of Donors Forum were quoted in an article on Forbes.com on the role that professional advisors can play in helping individuals and families make their philanthropy the most effective. The article quotes Lee Morava, Gresham Partners, Kirk Hoopingarner, Wildman Harrold Allen & Dixon and Betsy Brill, Strategic Philanthropy, Ltd. It also mentions Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, a Donors Forum member.
