Statement on Online Webinar Information Scraping
Forefront wanted to notify our community of an emerging online security concern.
The website webinartv.us which calls itself a webinar search engine – is pulling recordings and potentially even uses third party recording without the hosts consent to share what it asserts are public zoom meetings. The website then uses AI technology to generate promotional content – which it makes available for a fee. Learn more about the site here.
We suggest using the site’s search feature to search for your organization’s name, as well as for your staff members who do webinars and external meetings. If any of your organization’s content is on this website, the takedown request process is as follows: email [email protected]. Please be sure and include the URL to the content in question and an admission that you are the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Forefront will continue to monitor the situation and provide, if applicable, further recommendations on how to best navigate situations with emerging and evolving technology.
UPDATE:
Unite in Advance has issued a memo on WebinarTV Unauthorized Recording and Distribution Risk. The memo includes background information as well as guidance on remediation and response. Read it here.
