Government Funding for Nonprofits 201 (Webinar)

Please join Forefront and BDO Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory for this virtual training and take a deeper dive into government funding for nonprofits covering compliance, indirect cost rates, policies and procedures, and audit readiness.
Managing government funding can seem overwhelming given the level of compliance requirements, especially if your nonprofit has little experience with government funding. This training will focus on what happens after your organization has been awarded the grant and will help break down some of the expectations that funding agencies have regarding stewardship of government funding. Particular attention will be paid to indirect cost rates, policies and procedures that nonprofits are generally expected to have, regulatory requirements, and how to prepare for the Single Audit.
This training is not aimed at an introductory level and is best suited for those who have some experience with government funding and want to learn more about compliance requirements and the Single Audit.
Key focus areas for this workshop will include:
  • Indirect cost rates
  • Policies and procedures to have to facilitate compliance to government grant terms
  • Post-award compliance functions and activities
  • Preparing for the Single Audit and what to expect

Intended Audience: Anyone seeking deeper understanding of the Uniform Guidance, government grant compliance, indirect cost rates, and audit readiness. This training is aimed primarily at those who have some familiarity with government funding but may not have gone through a Single Audit yet.

Speakers:

Gene Lee, Senior Manager, BDO Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory  In his role as a Senior Manager on BDO’s Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory team, Gene consults, coaches, and trains nonprofits on a variety of financial and operational topics. Prior to joining BDO he was the Director of Project Finance and Grants at WGBH Educational Foundation, the largest producer of content for PBS. At WGBH, he was responsible for the overall direction and management of pre- and post-award activity for restricted projects for WGBH that are funded through the federal government, private foundations, and major donors.

Raquel Paulino, Manager, BDO Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory  As a Manager on BDO’s Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory team, Raquel focuses on delivering strategic and operational insights to nonprofit and philanthropic clients across the country. Prior to joining BDO Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory, Raquel was Manager of Training and Technical Assistance at New Destiny Housing Corporation, specializing in affordable housing, housing readiness and financial empowerment.
