This free 90-minute training is designed to help all foundations in Illinois understand the rules for foundations when it comes to policy and advocacy, and what foundations are allowed to fund, and not allowed to fund, in the world of policy and advocacy. Foundation staff will learn about federal and state lobbying rules, including when and how different types of foundations are permitted to engage, and when, how, and why foundations may fund policy and advocacy work for their grantees. Speakers will provide examples of these rules in practice.
In the last 30 minutes, those attending Foundations on the Hill (FOTH) 2025 will learn more about what to expect on the Hill and related legislative priorities. This training is required for those attending Foundations on the Hill 2025 to help prepare for a smooth day on the Hill, including speaker assignments, talking points, schedule information, and other tips. Q&A and discussion will be available.
The event recording will be shared with all registrants.
