In fall 2018, City Colleges of Chicago participated in The Hope Center’s Real College Survey. From the preliminary data of students who participated in this survey, we learned that 54% of those students were facing housing insecurity, 43% food insecurity, and 15% identified as being homeless. CCC understands that when a student’s basic needs are not met that their potential to be successful academically will be a challenge. This convening is to discuss how CCC has begun strategically building an infrastructure to support the basic needs of its student population.
