Forefront CEO to Step Down July 1, 2020

February 21, 2020

Timing is Everything

I marvel at Forefront’s mission.  We are able to convene and mobilize various stakeholders from across our state to collectively build such initiatives as #ILGive, the Mission Sustainability Initiative (MSI), the IL Count Me In 2020 Census initiative and, soon, FBRK Impact House.  Forefront’s policy and advocacy work secures critical funding for nonprofits and communities and streamlines burdensome processes. Now more than ever, our society needs organizations like Forefront to help leverage our resources and maximize our collective effort so that we can finally move the needle on these seemingly intractable issues, such as alleviating poverty, educating children, and improving the climate.

I am extremely proud of all that we at Forefront have accomplished and built over the past six years.  Forefront is financially strong.  We have established Forefront as an influential leader for collective action, advocacy, and education.  The move to the FBRK Impact House will be complete by April 1.  Exciting initiatives are emerging with which Forefront can partner.  And soon, the Forefront board will begin a strategic planning process for the next three years.

For these reasons, I believe the time is right for a new leader to take the reins at Forefront.  I am resigning my position effective July 1, 2020, allowing the Forefront Board ample time to search for and hire the next CEO.

I thank you for your support, fellowship, and engagement.  I look forward to continuing to work with and learn from you all as I explore how I can continue to make a positive impact on the world.

Eric Weinheimer

President and CEO, Forefront

Message from Forefront Board Chair Greg D. DiDomenico

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in advancing Forefront’s mission. As partners, you have experienced Eric’s passion and commitment to “building a more vibrant sector” where all of us—operating nonprofits, foundations, and advisors—across the state are leading, collaborating, and learning together.

Over the last six years, Eric’s leadership has brought Forefront’s mission alive in so many ways. From the #ILGive campaign and the development of a Mission Sustainability Initiative (MSI) to the public policy and advocacy work, most recently, surrounding Census 2020, Forefront’s impact during Eric’s tenure has made a profound difference.

Please join me and the Board in thanking him for his leadership, vision, and commitment to the social impact sector. We are grateful for all that he has done and will continue to do through June 30, 2020.

As the Board searches for a new CEO and President, we are committed to advancing Forefront’s mission, ensuring a smooth transition, and finding a leader who will continue to inspire us across the state.

Thank you again for your support and kindness.
