Two years ago, the world stopped. We pushed aside the silos of top-down philanthropy to truly listen and learn. Community, philanthropy, and the public sector moved money and other resources to meet the needs of those disproportionately impacted. Foundation racial equity statements proliferated and many in Chicago philanthropy took concrete actions to address racial inequity head-on.
The headlines have changed but the inequities remain. Thankfully, colleagues harnessed that moment to generate movement. They created innovative pooled funds that continue to target resources to groups creating a better way forward.
