Building Your Best Board: Breaking Down Barriers to Diversity and Inclusion

March 11, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This program has been cancelled.

You’ve made the business case for diversity, and your board understands its value, yet your board continues to struggle to achieve meaningful and lasting diversity and inclusion. Whether you face challenges with recruiting the right talent, heightening their engagement, and/or retaining and preparing diverse candidates for leadership roles, you know that you need to do something different to reach your diversity goals.

In this workshop, we will discuss some of the structural, cultural, and emotional barriers that exist on nonprofit boards when it comes to building greater diversity among members, and we will walk through the steps to break through these barriers. Through highlighted case studies and peer discussion, we will explore how to:

  • Identify a board’s strengths and weaknesses in functional and social inclusion
  • Understand the barriers to greater diversity and inclusion that may exist on your board
  • Identify how to breakthrough these barriers and who should lead the process
  • Explore an approach to action-planning for real board diversity and inclusion

This workshop is ideal for nonprofit board members and nonprofit staff who engage with the board.

Program fee: $35 Members of Forefront / $160 Non-members (Members must log into the Forefront website to obtain their discount. Create a new account here.)

Forefront is offering additional board-related programs in 2020 focused on recruitment, structure and process, fundraising, and performance and culture.
